From Hong Kong, the Orient Express takes you into the fabulous China town, Pingyao Karang, home to the spectacular ancient Buddhist temple of Nying you. From here, the journey continues over the breathtaking Hong Kong Island, where the view is spectacular and the shopping market is packed with local products. You will then make your way to Kaifeng, the main city of Yunnan province, home to the last authentic Snowquake Wall. The snow-capped mountains of the late 20th century have now been turned into stunning scenery, with modern office complexes and hotels dotting the landscape. For some time, this was considered to be one of the best places in the world to mount a trek from the safety of your hotel room!
From Kaifeng, the journey takes you on a boat ride to Hong Kong, where the view from the parapets is simply stunning. On your return trip, you can visit the Causeway Bay Waterfront, where the stunning HSBC Bank and other impressive buildings can be seen from the water. You will find that the prices of everything at the Waterfront are quite reasonable, especially when you consider the amazing views that you are offered. In fact, a trip on the Orient Express to Hong Kong and back is considered to be the perfect combination of sightseeing, accommodation, and transport - with everything accessible from within Hong Kong itself.
The journey then takes you onto the smaller island of Macau, which boasts of some of the most beautiful beaches in the world. The beaches are extremely long and stretch for miles upon miles, so it is easy to cover a great deal of ground in a short period of time. While there are options for luxury accommodation on the smaller island, most visitors prefer a more affordable option. If you are traveling as part of a larger group, you can ask your tour operator to create a 'joint package' so that you can get discounts on accommodation, food, and drinks.
